Online Learning Benefits

Online education can be even more satisfying than traditional classroom learning, because it focuses on you. You learn from the convenience of your home or office, at the time of day that suits you, while maintaining communication with instructors and fellow students. The structure of our online courses ensures all the participants in your course are actively engaged—success in the program depends on it. 30 to 50 percent of a student’s grade is based on participation. Here is just a sampling of the many benefits of learning online at GPS:

    • Flexible Scheduling
e-Learning is designed for busy professionals like you. While there are deliverables due several times throughout a course week, you plan your study time around your schedule, and work at your own pace. The program is based on a flexible, asynchronous model, so there is no need to disrupt your work and family life. Your instructor lays out the course in a detailed schedule, so you know what to expect and how to prepare.

    • Accessible Resources
Textbooks and other materials may be ordered online through our bookstore and delivered to you before the start of a course. Our extensive online library and resource center is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, all year long. Many students report that using the online library is easier and more convenient than visiting a traditional “bricks-and-mortar” library.

    • Consistent Course Structure
Our courses share a similar look and feel. These standards allow you to quickly become familiar with navigation when moving from course to course. Similarly you will see a pattern in our syllabi, where essential course information is presented in a consistent format.

    • Intimate Classes
In each class, you will get to know a small group of 15 to 20 students, with opportunities for social discussions and networking. In addition, virtual collaboration tools used in many courses provide students the opportunity to interact with their instructors and with their classmates in small groups, in real-time with audio and video. You are part of a community of your peers, a community that provides support, challenges your abilities, and encourages discussion.

  • Individual Attention
We limit our distance courses to 20 students to ensure you will receive individual attention from your instructors. They are experienced professionals who are also highly trained in online instruction. Your instructor also serves as a group facilitator, who develops you and your classmates into a learning community eager to engage in discussions of current issues and realistic scenarios.
